On Saturday, 10th September, Shepperton marina saw the return of their annual Berth Holders Party.
With the very sad news of the passing of Her Majesty, the team had a long discussion as to whether the party should go ahead. Each year, this party raises a vast amount of money for the charities we are proud to support including the RNLI, Momentum and Sailability. If we cancelled the party, this would impact those charities so the decision was made to continue as planned but scale back the games and make this party a tribute to her Majesty by honouring her life and the the work she did for our great nation.
Our customers joined us in a minute of silence where we could collectively pay our respects.
We are very proud to announce the money raised for these charities was as follows:
RNLI: £1,335
Momentum: £300
Thames Sailability: £300
This year, we also raised money for another charity. One of our long-standing, lovely customers, Frank, very sadly passed away earlier in the year and his wife Caz, donated three cases of Fosters (Franks favourite tipple!) from their boat. Rather than give these away, we wanted to pay tribute to Frank and raise money for the ICU at St Helier where Frank was cared for. We held a separate raffle and managed to raise £198.
We would like to thank all of our customers for joining us at our annual party and thank you for your generosity and support for this event, and all the year through.
